My Country People

Is this what you dreamt?
Where are your troths to us?
Is this the mandate our heroes and heroines left for us?
Oh! No. What a country!
Everything is upsidedown
You have enough good roads;
There people die untimely.
You accoutre power to near and far countries
Candles and lamps for the poor;
Generator for the rich as sources of power
You're a falcon to your subjects,
Is that your portfolio?
Turning your back to your people;
Their blood you use to wash.

Crying is their happiness
Marginalization is their work,
Slaying their occupation,
Blood for water; distress as food,
Inequity becomes the order of the day.
Fair hearing you said,
But, when we talk, we are jailed.
Democratism you said; Caesarism you do.
What a country!
After graduation, you become a cyclist
Employment is for their families, relatives and friends
Favouritism and nepotism is in apogee
Where are we going to?
What is our fate my country people?
