OH WAR! WHO WON?

We are free but in bondage
Liberty we want but received chain
To and fro we move in cage
The liberty we thought we gain
Heroes fought and died
Their efforts seem dried.

North and South were amalgamated
Warrant chiefs to the East
Multiple problems were created
Divide and rule system for the country
The battle line was drawn in earnest.

Zikism fought for our freedom
Economy exploiters he sent back to their kingdom
Yet, we became exploiters of our economy
Foxes in dichotomy
We seek freedom from marginalization
Unity impossible, we beseech disintegration

Parochialism in political power
Subjugation of the Easterns
They sprang up in protest
1967 was horrible, the outbreak of war
Death was the order of the day
Thunderous shots far and wide

Cave became our comfort zone
Thicket our humble abode
Artillery the only comforter and armory
We slain our foes for our adversaries
Saladine at Nkpor demaged our magazines
Many lives were claimed.

Border was closed
Ammunitions and foods withheld
Suffering, hardship and death everywhere
Kwashiorkor and cholera came visiting
Nicodemusly the leaders flee
The vanquished presented a white lamb.

Our tongues super glued; taciturn we remained,
Like a  sacrificial goat we're held
With po'er that comes out of the barrel.
Submission was our grievous mistakes
Though, we are been defeated.

We were subdued to our doom
Yet, we believed to see the new moon
Herdsmen massacred people at noon
Fulanization of the country their plan
We 're born to rule their slogan
Still, the leadership is not plain
Rights of the citizens are drained

Now, it is time
To say no to their tame
Stand on our right and fight
The freedom, we must get
We didn't lose in the war
We want all in the law
It was fighting in retreat.
